Commitment

I've never been one of those guys that makes a New Year's resolution and breaks it. Everything that I ever said I would do, I've done...Well, except play football professionally. I fell short of that goal. Everything else I've nailed. I said I would go to college, done! I said I would graduate, done! Before I was finished with my master's degree, I was already speaking on a doctorates; not done yet, but I'm getting there.
So, 5 years ago when I said I was going to lose weight that was no different. I changed my diet and invested in Shaun T's Insanity. I lost in between 25-35 lbs. The weight came off so fast that I didn't appreciate the work that I put in. So, I went back to eating what I wanted. Working out became less of a priority, because I got the body that I wanted.
Five years later I sit here looking like I've never worked out before. I saw it coming, but there's nothing that I've been able to do to stop it. Well, there's something I could've done, and I've tried, but I've haven't truly COMMITTED.
The picture above is of King Leonidas. For those of you who don't know he lead the army of 300 (unsuccessfully) against the Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae. After seeing how defined Gerard Butler had to get to play King Leonidas, I told myself that I could and would do the same. But I never COMMITTED.
This is what I look like today.

Shameful, right? I know, but today is the day that I make the commitment to look like King Leonidas. I'm sure that some of you are probably wondering why I had to write this in a blog. I figure this blog can help to keep me accountable.
Once a week I will detail my journey to looking like King Leonidas. I'll talk about my struggles with regaining the strength in my knee; my nutrition decisions; my workouts; and my quest to run a full marathon (just for you J Boi).
Comment to let me know what you think and hold me accountable!
